Our literacy team recommends acceptance of this program with the following conditions/considerations:
This program should only be used as for supplementary purposes or extra reading. This is not a replacement for a home reading program.
Development of comprehension thinking strategies (analyzing, predicting, connecting, synthesizing, inferring, evaluating) should primarily consist of rich, meaningful, engaging authentic conversations and activities.
Classroom data provided by the progress report uses Lexile and would need to be converted to align with Rocky View Correlation chart and Fountas and Pinnel reading levels. Not recommended as an assessment tool.

Reading Eggs is an interactive online program intended for children ages 4-8 and designed to teach children how to read or to build on existing reading skills.

Students must be 13 years of age or older. For students under the age of 13, the site asks for parent/guardian name, age and email address.

Requires purchase. Teachers can create roster using student first name, first initial of last name or another identifier. Parents can provide their email address in order to receive progress reports from this site. Students under 13 must have teacher created accounts.
